We Call for Ceasefire

Since 2015, Montgomery Pride United has been part of a larger effort to create a safe space for LGBTQ+ people and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Our advocacy work in central Alabama is intersectional with climate justice, disability rights, homelessness advocacy, criminal legal reform, housing rights, racial justice, and more.

Right now, we are witnessing an international maelstrom that calls for our community to demand peace. We stand and call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and we call for resources and attention to the crisis in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

There will always be more issues that demand our attention as a grassroots organization but above all, we know that there is no peace until there is justice.

As Montgomery Pride United, we stand together. Together in our fight for the agency of Palestinians while standing firm against anti-semitism. Together in our fight for community resources while pushing against transphobia. Together in lifting each other rather than isolating one another. In the words of Fannie Lou Hamer, we know that "nobody's free until we are all free."
