HPTN096 Peer Support Program

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new HPTN (HIV Prevention Trials Network) 096 Peer Support Program to the Montgomery River Region and surrounding areas.

The Peer Support program aims to remove power imbalances sometimes seen in clinical settings by providing service and support to Black gay, bisexual, same-gender-loving, and other men who have sex with men. The care and attentiveness provided by Peer Supporters can potentially reduce the negative influence of discrimination and stigma often faced by those seeking health care or other support services.

HPTN is a worldwide collaborative network that develops and tests the safety and efficacy of interventions designed to prevent the transmission of HIV. They evaluate and implement cutting-edge biomedical, behavioral, and structural interventions to reduce the transmission of HIV. Community participation in decision-making ensures that research participants and the community feel ownership of the research and have an interest in its success.
